The objective of this course is that each of the students can develop their personal experimental project based on the support and comments of the teacher and the entire group. It is divided into two quarters, with 14 sessions of two hours each, and is held every two weeks live via Zoom. In each class, we will work in-depth and collectively on each participant's projects and we will learn and discuss topics of general interest. Every two classes, the student will have a half-hour space to present and delve into their work and receive comments on it. The first presentation will be dedicated to seeing where each project is and how they can delve deeper into them from an experimental point of view. In the second, we will work on questions focused on the message and the techniques used such as: What story does your project tell? What are its characters and how does the plot develop? What techniques are the most appropriate to communicate it? Is it possible to do it with existing techniques or do we have to create new ones?
Finally, we will see the formats in which we can present our projects (exhibitions, books, conferences, websites, etc.) and which ones best suit their form and content. In addition, we will study contemporary and historical references that can enrich our perspective and we will hold collective debates on each of the proposals. This course will be taught with a maximum of 8 students to ensure personalized follow-up. It should be noted that each year we will select a project from the course to be exhibited during the next edition of the Experimental Photo Festival of Barcelona. Topics to work on according to the needs of the students
• Contemporary and historical experimental references that can enrich our gaze
• Theoretical books, fundamental techniques and photobooks in the world of experimental photography
• History of experimentation, from Aristotle to post-photography
• Chart with the 144 Experimental Techniques and how to select the right one for our work
• Think about the message and content: What story does your project tell? Is the message consistent with the form?
• The forms our work can take: books, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, web publishing, Instagram, blog, 3D experiences, etc. We will think about the right amount of images in each format and work on the narrative sequencing
• Editorial communication: how to edit a photobook
• Digital communication: how to spread the project on the Internet (web, social networks, features, virtual exhibitions, etc.)
• How to make a really experimental exhibition? One thing is our images and quite another is to be able to create experimentation in the exhibition of it. This is the next step that we have been reflecting on for years since the festival. The best space for our exhibition (this conditions production and assembly), best favourable dates, budget, conceptualization, selection of the project and the works, printing techniques and supports for the works, discourse and curatorial text, dissemination (press, web and social networks), disassembly, how to store and transport the works
Designed for:
People who have a project to develop and wish to receive guidance and support in its conceptualization and practical development. Participants may come from various backgrounds, such as enthusiasts in experimental photography, photography professionals, artists, visual arts students, and anyone interested in exploring and expanding their creative practice.
Admission Requirements: Have a project to start or one already in progress.
Goals:
• Provide participants with guidance and support in the practical and conceptual development of their experimental photography projects. • Encourage critical reflection and ongoing dialogue between participants and the instructor to help them effectively convey their ideas and concepts using appropriate techniques and resources in experimental photography. • Assist in finding the best format for presenting your experimental project (exhibition, photobook, etc.) and offer professional and promotional opportunities.
Price: 350 euros.
Dates:
First term: October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18, and December 2, 16, and Thursday, December 26.
Second term: February 3 and 17, March 3, 17, and 31, April 14, and May 5.
Duration: 28 hours of classes. Live sessions of two hours each, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Spain time), each Monday, every 2 weeks.
Modality: Live-online in real time via Zoom with Pablo Giori.

PABLO GIORI
Founder and co-director of the Experimentalphotofestival Association: Experimental Photo Festival and Ágora, School of Experimentation.
Bachelor of Letters (Classical Philology) from the National University of Tucumán (Argentina); Master's Degree in Communication and Cultural Studies from the University of Girona (Spain) and in Strategic Communication from the University of Tarragona (Spain), both with scholarships. PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Girona with a comparative study between Spain and Canada. Speaks 4 languages.

Since the beginning of Ágora, he has supported over 40 artists from around the world in the development of their projects. He is a professor of Critical Perspectives in Photography in the Master’s program in Photography at the University of Applied Sciences Berlin (SRH), Germany.He specializes in the management, conservation, digitization, and dissemination of photographic heritage and has worked for three years in the Image Department of the National Archive of Catalonia. He has curated 21 exhibitions of various projects in several countries across Europe and Latin America. He has published three books, including the photobook Habitants Inesperats. 12 Key Ideas for Creating Double Exposures and Film Exchanges (2018), the photographic biography Pere Català i Pic. Photography, Advertising, Avant-garde, and Literature (1889-1971), and all the catalogues of the Experimental Photo Festival: EXP.20, EXP.21, and EXP.22.
