Concrete Photography

Jäger, Gottfried, et al.

This book is the first to present the history, aesthetics, and technique of Concrete Photography, a longstanding but formerly unplumbed subgenre within Concrete Art--or in Theo van Doesburg's formulation, art which depicts nothing but "itself." The contributing scholars here identify approximately 180 works by 80 international artists, who, in the words of photography professor and practitioner Gottfried Jager, have produced a "self-referential world of images, highly abstract, non-figurative."
