Cómo se lee una fotografía

Marzal Felici, Javier

Many art critics do not hide the fact that the value of a photograph in the art field depends, quite simply, on market rules. However, there are also many other values attributed to a photograph that fall within the realm of absolute subjectivity: the ability to fascinate the viewer, to evoke emotions, to make one smile, etc. We can thus see how photography constitutes a subject of study that is difficult to approach from a univocal perspective. The purpose of this book is precisely to offer a methodology for analyzing photographic texts. But first, Javier Marzal outlines the theoretical premises in the first part of the book and reflects on the status of photography. In the second part, he presents a journey through the main schools and methodological currents for image analysis, before exposing his own work proposal. In the third part, twelve analyses of photographic texts are presented, which constitute a practical application of the proposed methodology.
