The exhibition showcases two of the group's projects: Barcelona Heliographic Expedition, which addresses the contemporary urban landscape from a perspective rooted in 19th-century imagery, and Apollo Epikouros, a long gaze at the frieze of the Temple of Apollo Epikouros at Bassae (Greece), which is located in the British Museum. Barcelona Heliographic Expedition examines the contemporary urban landscape through a 19th-century lens, photographing the city using the wet collodion direct positive ambrotype technique, which has been out of use since the late 19th century. The formal rhetoric characteristic of this technique, with its long exposure times rendering moving figures invisible, makes the familiar current space manifest as strange and ghostly.
