Anthological/Analogue
Gioli, Paolo, et al.
Painter, photographer, filmmaker, Paolo Gioli (Rovigo, 1942) is one of the most innovative Italian artists of recent decades, especially for his ability to experiment in multiple fields, including through the reworking of devices. Anthologica/Analogica, published on the occasion of three exhibitions held in Italy and China, examines the films and photographic works - Polaroids, photofinish, silk-screen canvases and lithographic plates - produced over a period of fifty years, suggesting a theoretical-iconographic path that revolves around four sections: Nature, Body, Face, Medium. The volume, accompanied by a rich apparatus of colour illustrations, in addition to the author's own commentary on the films and a detailed list of all the works presented, includes critical contributions by important international scholars.
