Lumen Print and Digital Printing

Andrey Piletsky

Price

20€

Duration

2 hours

About the workshop

In this workshop, we will learn how to use a smartphone to produce a photographic print on gelatin silver photographic paper. This technique will allow you to make an analog print from any digital photograph, fixing it with household salt. We will use the smartphone as a camera and as a printing device, putting it in direct contact with photographic paper. I developed this technique while on vacation when I wanted to print photos where all I brought was a package of photo paper. We will begin with an explanation of the technique with its possibilities and limits. Then we will see the first impression, demonstrated by me. After the second print, I will lead a discussion on light print permanence and suggest ways to work with impermanent images. We'll have to fix the prints and see what happens when they don't get fixed.
