Cali M. Banks

Price

Duration

About the workshop

Cinema should be accessible to anyone who wants to create! Are you interested in working with film and moving images, but don't have access to a camera? Touch cinema, also called handmade cinema, is a great way to immerse yourself in the world of cinema. Participants will learn to create their own films using ink, glitter glue, adhesives and markers to create direct animation on 16mm film. Learn about countercinema, or films that deviate from what you'd see in mainstream Hollywood films, through color, concept, and material. No experience necessary!

Cali M. Banks @bankscal

She is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Media Arts Practices from the University of Colorado at Boulder specializing in photography and a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Technology and Global Health Studies from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. Cali explores the reclamation of identity through performative photography and videography, ideas of public versus private narratives, and the subversion of the parameters that define indigenous art. Her aesthetic can be described as raw and intentionally unpolished, often juxtaposing beauty and repulsion.
