Ferric Gum, an Alternative to Bichromated Gum

Javier Piñana

Price

20€

Duration

2 hours

About the workshop

Starting from a very experimental practice, Javi Piñana and his group, Lost Processes, have begun to work with ferric rubber printing as an alternative to dichromatic rubber. This technique replaces potassium bichromate with iron chloride to work with a chemical that is less toxic for those who handle it and better for the environment. Michael Andrews started this technique a couple of years ago, but it hasn't caught on widely.
