About the workshop

During this workshop we will play with the cyanotype, a very simple photographic printing technique full of possibilities and variations. Specifically, we will explore how to obtain different tones by altering timing, drawing, and exposure methods. Virginia will show us how she usually builds her studio to create large long exposure cyanotypes with a live printing session, from chemical preparation to the final result.

Virginia Dal Magro, born in 1994 in Milan, obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fine Arts at the Brera Academy and is currently working as a teaching assistant. She uses printing techniques as a means to blur the line between painting and photography, and his research focuses on memory, identity, territory and geography. Dal Magro has exhibited his work in Italy and internationally: MACRO Testaccio museum in Rome, Geidai Academy of Tokyo, 12 Star Gallery in London, Davide Gallo Art Gallery, Milan. Shee has been part of the GRAFT artist residency and exhibition at Kubik Gallery, Litomysl in the Czech Republic, and participated in the 4th Global Print of Douro. In 2017 she won the Brera-Bicocca prize, in 2018 she won second place in the 'Morlotti-Imbersago Prize', and in 2019 she was part of the finalists in the San Fedele Gallery exhibition in Milan.

Anyone interested in learning or deepening their knowledge of a specific technique or challenges in experimental photography; from beginners seeking to acquire basic skills to more experienced photographers who wish to explore new techniques, refine their existing practice or stay updated on the debates and practices within the realm of experimental photography.

• Conferences: provide participants with a deeper and richer understanding of the conceptual aspects of experimental photography. Stimulate reflection and debate, offering an educational experience that inspires and enriches your understanding of experimental photography as a form of artistic expression.
